AN IRVINE woman who pleaded guilty to sending malicious messages to a woman and a 13-year-old girl will have to pay compensation to both of the victims of her behaviour.

Heather Campbell, 32, admitted sending grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages to the woman and girl via Facebook and through numerous text messages and phone calls from her home address in the town on Sunday, November 7 last year.

According to the charge to which Campbell pleaded guilty, she also shouted, swore and uttered derogatory remarks towards her two victims as well as making false and malicious accusations against them both.

As a result of Campbell’s behaviour, both the woman and the teenager were placed in a state of fear and alarm.

Campbell, who was described in court papers as a resident of Watson Terrace, Irvine, was handed a punishment in the form of a £220 fine when she appeared in the dock at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

She was also ordered to make a £20 payment to the Scottish Government Victim Surcharge fund.

A judge also ordered Campbell to pay out £160 in compensation to the victims of the malicious messages.
