The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash on the A71 near the Greenwood interchange yesterday was taken to Crosshouse Hospital following the incident.

This took place around 5.15pm on Tuesday, and saw the Irvine to Dreghorn section of the bypass closed in both directions before reopening later in the evening.

Only one car was reported to be involved in the crash.

A police spokesperson told the Times: “Officers were called to reports of a one vehicle crash on the A71 near Greenwood Interchange, Dreghorn at around 5.15pm on Tuesday, April 19.

“The driver was taken to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock. The road has since reopened.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

No further update was provided on the condition of the driver involved.
