BOTH carriageways on the A78 at River Irvine will receive vital roadworks this month as bridge expansion takes place.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential bridge expansion joint replacements on the A78 at River Irvine from Monday, May 16 until Wednesday, May 22, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, each night. 

Work will be completed on the A78 Southbound between Monday, May 16 to Saturday, May 21, and there will be a total closure of the A78 southbound carriageway, with a diversion route in place.  

Diverted traffic will exit the A78 southbound at Warrix Interchange and turn left on the A71.

From here, vehicles will turn right at the roundabout onto Long Drive and turn right onto Moss Drive, before re-joining the A78 southbound via the on-slip at Newhouse Interchange. 

Between Sunday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 25 there will be a total closure of the A78 northbound carriageway, with a diversion route in place.  

Diverted traffic will exit the A78 northbound at Warrix Interchange and turn right onto Moss Drive.

From here, vehicles will turn left onto Long Drive, join the A78 west on-slip, before turning right to re-join the A78 northbound. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
