The Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine is set to play host this week to the first of two family crafting sessions this week and in the coming month.
Open to children aged five upwards, the ‘Make and Take’ drop-in sessions will be held at the museum on Irvine Harbourside on Saturday, May 14 and Saturday June 4 between 11am and 3pm.
They are part of the museum’s events programme in support of its popular spring exhibition, Solitude at Sea.
During the May workshop, participants will make a message in a bottle, before creating a ‘Solitude and Me’ zine in June.
Up to three children can visit the museum for free with each adult admission.
While there, visitors can also take in the Solitude at Sea exhibition, which explores isolation and connection throughout history up to the Covid-19 pandemic, and how important creativity is during periods of isolation.
