POLICE were busy on Kilwinning's Pennyburn Road this week, as they carried out routine traffic duties.
Two separate stops were carried out, leading to one person being handed a fine, another receiving an official warning, and a male driver clocking in at almost double the speed limit and allegedly failing a roadside drugs test.
In the first of these incidents, a driver was stopped and handed a fixed penalty notice for breaking the 30mph limit on the Kilwinning road.
However, a second stop, of a driver clocking up a speed almost double the speed limit (57mph), led to a further alleged offence.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly failed a roadside drugs swab test, while his passenger was handed a recorded police warning for possession of a Class B drug.
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal regarding the male driver of the second vehicle.
