A woman was given community service for neglecting her now dead pet cat and failing to seek treatment.
Barbara Jenkins, 41, admitted causing unnecessary suffering through the neglect from January 5, 2020 to January 5, 2021 last year.
The complaint states Jenkins admitted being personally responsible for caring for the animal and causing the now deceased cat unnecessary suffering – while knowing or having reason to have known her actions or lack of would cause the animal suffering or was likely to do so.
Court papers state Jenkins, of Lundholm Road, Stevenston, failed to provide adequate care and treatment and did fail to get the cat treatment from a vet.

The cat was suffering from poor body and health conditions including weight loss and muscle loss.
The charge states there was a mass on its cheek causing it to suffer physically.
Jenkins, represented by defence solicitor Brian Holliman, pleaded guilty to the breach of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2006.
When she appeared in court last week (Wednesday, May 11) she was sentenced to a community payback order of 20 hours unpaid work.
