Merck in Irvine welcomed students from the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) to their site to show them exactly what the company is all about.

The students had previously been given a seminar about the company, but the Irvine-based firm decided it would be better to show them how much of a difference to the world their products make first hand.

They were brought down to the site for more presentations and an extensive tour of the facility.

Jenna Miller, one of the students in attendance, said: “This was very informative and interesting. It was great to see the different processes take place.”

Stephen Docherty, Product Engineering Specialist and SWAT Co-ordinator at Merck, added: “Being former UWS students ourselves we understand the importance that these connections can have and the further motivation this can bring to finish the degree and plan for the career ahead.

“We are planning on carrying these out with more university and college students and will be contacting or happy to be contacted from anyone interested.”
