A SPRINGSIDE man was caged for fraudulently using a woman’s debit card after he found it at an Irvine supermarket.

David Allan Lammie, 25, appeared for sentencing last week having pleaded guilty to charges of fraud, theft and breaching bail.

Not guilty pleas to five other charges on the complaint were accepted – with Lammie also admonished on two separate matters of shouting and swearing in Adam’s Avenue, Saltcoats back in 2020 and breaching bail.

Lammie admitted stealing the card without attempting to discover the true owner having found it at Aldi East Road, Irvine on July 22 last year.

He then used the card at an automated checkout machine to obtain clothing, shoes and a lighter to the value of £78.96 by fraud.

Court papers state Lammie committed these offences while on bail granted at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on August 6, 2020.

Lammie also pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of meat from the Co-operative store, Townfoot, Dreghorn on September 13.

Lammie later struck again at the M&S foodstore at the Riverway Retail Park stealing more meat on September 17, 2021 – before striking again at the Dreghorn Co-op to steal more the same month, and another charge of stealing food stuffs from the same store in October.

These offences were committed on bail granted on August 6, August 9, September 28 and October19, 2021 at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Lammie also admitted to failing to be in his address at Croft Terrace, Springside between 7pm and 7am on October 29 as well as a second charge of breaching his bail order to remain in the address on November 13.

Lammie was jailed for a total of 12 weeks when he returned to court to be sentenced on Monday, May 23 – in a closed court hearing with other accused and the press excluded.

Court clerks confirmed this was due to Lammie also facing a separate drug treatment order.
