A man has been charged in connection with a communications offence following a sting from a paedophile-hunting group in Irvine.
The 72-year-old was arrested after officers were made aware of a group gathered at an address in Cairngorm Court just after 10pm last night [Tuesday, June 14].
Police confirmed the man is due to appear in court at a later date - but declined to comment whether the accused was kept in custody or released after the charge.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of group gathered at a property at Cairngorm Court in Irvine around 10.20pm on Tuesday, June 15.
“Officers attended and engaged with the group.
“A 72-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a communications offence.
“He is expected to appear in court at a later date.”
