THE past two weekends saw the return of competitive ice hockey tournaments to the Auchenharvie ice rink, as North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club hosted the Ronnie Miller Memorial Tournament.

The tournament name fittingly changed after the passing of the much loved, influential and respected former chairman of the club.

The tournament saw teams from across the UK come to compete over two separate weekends, with games taking place on both Saturdays and Sundays.

The first weekend of action saw teams compete across the under-12 and under-16 age groups.

In Sunday's big finals, the under-12s tournament was won by the Lanarkshire Lightning, who defeated Kirkcaldy in the showpiece match.

While the under-16s final saw North Ayrshire representation, with the Predators getting to the final, where unfortunately they were defeated by the Fife Flames.

The following weekend saw the under-10, 14 and 19 age groups compete for the title, including teams from Belfast, Billingham, Kirkcaldy, Leeds and Solway.

On the final day, Lanarkshire Lightning beat the Belfast Giants to the under-10s title.

While in the under-14s showpiece match, it was the Inverness Highlanders who took home the trophy, defeating the Leeds Knights.

In the very last final, at under-19s level, the Solway Sharks pipped the Fife Falcons to take the victory.
