AN award-winning Saltcoats restaurant is celebrating further success after picking up a gong at a recent national ceremony.

Motherland Spice, in Bradshaw Street, followed up last year’s prestigious Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year prize by being named Team of the Year at the 2022 Scottish Curry Awards.

A glitzy event was held in Glasgow on Monday, June 13, as the best names in the industry were recognised with honours.

And bosses at the local Indian eatery took to social media to thank their loyal customers after claiming their latest award.

A post on the Motherland Spice Facebook page last week said: “Another huge achievement award from the Scottish Curry Awards, can’t thank you enough for our customers’ support.

“It is such an honour to be awarded and recognised as the Team of the Year.

“To work as a team is no easy job, especially when you are often required to work under pressure.

“Regardless our team come to work with big cheerful greetings to get through another day, and we cannot do it without our customers.

“It is their wide smiles after a big meal and their continued support that keeps our team motivated and striving for better.

“We feel very privileged and proud to be bringing this award to Saltcoats.

“A huge thank you to the Scottish Curry Awards and everyone who made this event possible.”

Other winners included 3idiots in Ayr, which won Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year, and nearby The Curry Leaf which was named Takeaway and Home Delivery of the Year.

Irfan Younis, CEO of organisers Oceanic Consulting, said: “We are honoured and delighted to have such great finalists and winners representing the Scottish curry industry and enhancing its reputation nationally and internationally.

“We were very happy to welcome the guests and celebrate with them. Congratulations to all finalists and winners.”
