More than 200 council houses are set to be built on the site of Irvine’s Ayrshire Central Hospital, Councillor Scott Davidson has revealed.
Speaking following a question from Councillor Louise McPhater at a full meeting of North Ayrshire Council, Cllr Davidson, the cabinet member for place, said: “The latest SHIP (Strategic Housing Investment Plan) includes 171 units at the Ayrshire Central Hospital site
“Work has been progressing over the last six months to develop site layout following discussions with Historic Environment Scotland on the former maternity unit, detailed analysis of the housing register and consideration of wider community impacts.
“The latest site plan shows an increased capacity of 202 units. Draft plans consultation is scheduled to take place in August 2022.
“The estimated site start date is currently spring/summer 2023, with works scheduled for completion in spring/summer 2025.”
