IF you’re looking for an evening filled with comedy and the paranormal, the live show of the podcast This Paranormal Life is coming to Glasgow later this month.

Hosts of the award-winning comedy podcast - Kit Grier Mulvenna and Rory Powers - are bringing The Dice of Death tour to the Òran Mór, where they will investigate a paranormal case live on stage, as well as take on the "forces of evil".

The case explored will be specific to Glasgow, with Kit saying it’s "exciting" to bring the show to the city as it has so much of its own paranormal history.

He said: "It’s going to be a show of two halves.

"If you’re a long-time listener there’s something for you but also if you’re the person who’s maybe never heard the show before, or you’re the person who’s coming along with a friend or partner, then it’s also accessible and exciting and there’s something added in that’s beyond just the regular show.

"The first half of the live show will be more like a traditional episode of the podcast, where we’re going to dive into a paranormal case that is specific to Glasgow and look at the evidence behind it and try and decide by the end of that investigation whether we think it’s actually a real paranormal case or not.

"Then we’ll come back on stage and we’re going to do the Dice of Death portion.

"Sometimes we try and bring the paranormal to life on stage and so this time we will be playing a game of paranormal chance against the forces of evil on stage and members of the audience will be able to elect themselves to gamble their fate."

Kit continued: "The Òran Mór itself, I was reading about how back in the mid-2000s a team of paranormal investigators did go there and investigated it and they found that there were some interesting noises and things going on in the night.

"And I think they recorded some voices talking so there’s definite scope to investigate live on stage."

Childhood friends Kit and Rory, who grew up together in Portstewart in Northern Ireland, started This Paranormal Life after they decided to do a comedy podcast where they learn about the paranormal to make it accessible to everyone.

"I think a huge barrier to people learning about the paranormal is how passionate people are in the paranormal world," Kit says.

"We were like 'we’re normal people, we want to learn about this too, join us on the journey, we’ll learn about it together and we’ll poke fun in places'.

"We do things from a warm-hearted place, but we’ll also take the p*** if things are ridiculous as well."

Kit and Rory decided to take the show on tour following the success of the podcast, which sees over 100,000 downloads a week, and previous live events in London.

Kit said: "We actually come from a music background too, we have performance backgrounds, so wanting to take it on stage was always a natural instinct.

"And then secondly our community, there’s something about the podcast that has attracted a certain type of really warm funny, chill, person, so after doing a couple of small live shows in London back in 2019, we knew that they were great fun, we knew the right thing to do was to bring the community together and meet each other."

Rory added: "I’m so excited to finally be able to get This Paranormal Life on tour.

"We’ve spent so much time crafting a show that will hopefully exceed people's expectations of what a live podcast can be.

"My favourite part of our show is the actual performance, so getting to do that in front of hundreds of our listeners is going to feel amazing."

This Paranormal Life: The Dice of Death will be at the Òran Mór on Saturday, August 20.
