FOUR people have been taken to hospital following a serious road crash in Dreghorn.

Police are now appealing for information about the incident, which happened at around 4.20pm yesterday (August 17) at Annick Drive and its junction with the B7081 Townfoot Road, next to The Brae Bar and Restaurant.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a black Seat Altea and a grey Volvo XC40.

The two occupants of the Volvo, a man and woman, both aged 81, were taken to University Hospital Crosshouse.

The pensioners remain in care and police describe their condition as "serious".

The occupants of the Seat, two 28-year-old women, were also taken to University Hospital Crosshouse for treatment.

The road was closed for around four hours at the time of the crash as police carried out investigations.

Sergeant Christopher Hoggans, of the Irvine Road Policing Unit, said: “Two people have sustained serious injuries as a result of this collision so it is important that we establish exactly how the crash occurred.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch.

"I would also ask anyone with dash cam devices to check their footage as it could hold images which could prove to be significant in our enquiries.”
