AYRSHIRE’S newest WoSFL side always faced an uphill battle as they travelled to Glasgow to face Pollok in the South Challenge Cup.
Against one of the lower leagues, and former junior football’s most established sides, it was always going to take something special to cause an upset.
Despite the 6-0 loss they suffered come full time, the Kilwinning side can be more than pleased with the account they gave of themselves.
An already tough test was made even harder for the Jousters when only 13 minutes into the match they conceded a penalty, which Adam Forde duly dispatched.
It was two for Pollok, and two for Forde only three minutes later, when the striker converted from a cutback from out wide.
And Forde had his hat-trick before half time, as he finished off an exquisite through ball on 38 minutes and on the stroke of half time, it was four, as Robbie Buchanan got his first of the afternoon.
In the second half, Buchanan made it two, punishing an error from the Eglinton back line.
Despite their battling efforts for a consolation, it was Pollok who got another, with Buchanan making it a hat-trick on 80 minutes, and the game finished 6-0.
