Kilwinning’s first flower show in three years saw massive success – and there are hopes next year’s event can be “bigger and better”.
Organised by the Kilwinning Horticultural Society, the show took place on Thursday August 25.

A total of 43 awards were given out to budding horticulturalists with prizes available for the best flowers, vegetables, baked goods, crafts, and wines.

The show’s secretary, James Burns, said: “I was delighted to have the event back up and running again after Covid and the restrictions.

“I’d like to put out a thanks to the committee, our sponsors, those who have donated cheques or bakery items for the tearoom, and to all the public who attended.

“There was a very good response from the public and plenty of donations as well which we’re very grateful for.

This year, the prizes were presented by the Segdoune Queen, Willow Travers of Pennyburn Primary, who acted as the guest of honour.

All seven members of the royal party were present to welcome the attendees and kick off the opening ceremony alongside the society’s president.
