A BODY found near Maybole has been formally identified as that of a missing Irvine man.
Police appealed for public assistance to try to trace Colin McKerrell in the early hours of this morning, September 20.
Later this morning, a man's body was found near Mochrum Hill, Maybole, which was formally identified to be that of the 58-year-old.
His family have been informed, and they have asked that their privacy be respected at this time.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man found near Mochrum Hill, Maybole, around 10.10am on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, has been formally identified as 58-year-old Colin McKerrell.
"His family have been informed and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
