THERE was good news for North Ayrshire Foodbank last week - as they confirmed they had secured funding which will allow them to employ a baker.

The charity will now be able to offer a ‘community bakery’ service, and are currently in the midst of the hiring process - with applications for the role closing on Friday, October 14.

The food bank has been working as quickly as possible to ensure the role is filled quickly, with applications only opening on October 12.

The job description read: “The successful candidate would oversee the production of a range of goods for the Ardrossan South Larder project, recruitment and training of apprentices/volunteers, the establishment of processes and policies for the bakery’s safe operation, establish the operating space with the necessary equipment.

“Once established the Community Bakery will seek to build capacity to tender for contracts.”

The North Ayrshire foodbank is based in the Church of the Nazarene in Ardrossan and is open every day midweek.
