Another small business in Irvine is set to close next month due to "rising costs of bills" amidst the cost-of-living crisis.
B.You beauty salon on Irvine’s Milton Road will be shutting its doors for the final time on November 25.
Despite being a popular salon and having established its place in the community over the nine years it has been open, the business has been forced to close due to increasingly high bills.
Vhari said: “I feel that it is now time for me to be that little bit selfish and put my own health, happiness, family and business first.
“It has not been an easy decision to make, (made even harder when you are closing a successful and busy salon), but the rising costs of bills and stock on top of all the ‘normal’ costs of running a business is making it impossible.
“I wish all the girls the best of luck in their future journeys!
“Small businesses are really suffering and it’s just not worth it anymore for us.”
Announcing the closure on the salon’s Facebook page, commenters were sad to see the shop close but supported Vhari in her next chapter and wished her good luck.
Gillian Macfarlane said: “Good luck Vhari. I know this hasn't been an easy decision for you but you've got to do what's right for you and your family. I'm sure you will succeed in no matter what you do.”
Vhari will continue to work as a beautician but has plans to set up shop out of her own home.
Her Facebook post stated that everyone with a scheduled appointment for after November 25 will be contacted to rearrange and that she can provide contact details for any of the other members of staff if asked.
The announcement of B.You’s closure comes just two weeks after clothing store Core in the Rivergate shopping centre was found to have shut down.
Other local businesses in Irvine and the surrounding area have expressed fears that they may be forced to close due to the cost-of-living crisis.
Kilwinning’s Dino and Sons recently posted about their concerns due to rising bills and a loss of footfall due to the closure of the main street to traffic.
