POLICE Scotland have continued in their efforts to rid our streets of drugs, arresting a male and female following a 'bust' in Irvine.

This was an intelligence-led operation by the Ayrshire pro-active crime team, and officers attended a property in the town whereby a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs were seized.

These controlled drugs were worth an estimated street value of £10,000 and a 35-year-old male and a 32-year-old female have been arrested and charged with the offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We’ve been made aware through responses to the 'Your Police' survey that people in Ayrshire are concerned about drug supply in their community.

"Following an intelligence-led operation by the Ayrshire Pro-Active Crime Team, officers attended a property in Irvine whereby a quantity of Class A and Class B controlled drugs, worth an estimated street value of over £10,000, were recovered.

"A 35-year-old male and a 32-year-old female have been arrested and charged with the offences.

"Police Scotland will continue to target and disrupt drug supply in all our communities."

This latest bust adds to a number of similar arrests in the area recently.

The force confirmed on Tuesday, November 1, that six arrests had been made following the execution of warrants in Ayrshire and Glasgow on Friday, October 28.

Five people were then charged in connection with alleged serious organised crime and drugs offences.

While on Thursday, October 27, two people were arrested in connection with a drugs find in the Castlepark area of Irvine.

And only a week prior again, on October 21, Police Scotland confirmed that a man had been cautioned and charged after cocaine with an estimated street value of £50,000 was seized in Lawthorn.
