IRVINE Victoria striker Kevin Adam has received top praise from one of Scotland's greatest goalscorers for his exploits.

Adam became the Vics all-time leading goalscorer on Saturday when he notched his 147th goal for the club in their 4-1 victory over Carluke Rovers.

It moved him beyond Andy Clarkson's tally of 146, which he had matched the week previous with a goal versus Saltcoats Victoria.

And to honour the record-breaking striker, Irvine Victoria's media team put together a video containing as many of the striker's goals as they could find footage of.

They also created a graphic displaying who he enjoyed the most success against - ranging from 15 goals in games against Muirkirk to singular goals against teams including Kilwinning Rangers and Montrose Roselea.

In the video (available to watch here) a number of current players, former teammates, coaching staff and fans have added their congratulations to Kev Adam.

The last of these comes from a goalscoring record holder from elsewhere in Scottish football.

Former Kilmarnock, Rangers and Scotland star Kris Boyd added his piece - letting Kevin know how big an achievement this was.

Boyd himself is the Scottish Premier League (SPL) all-time top goalscorer (scoring 167 goals), having surpassed former record holder and Celtic man Henrik Larsson in 2009.

This is a record which Boyd will forever hold, after the SPL rebranded to become the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) in 2013.

In his message, the retired striker, now a Sky Sports pundit said: "Alright Kev big man. Congratulations on breaking Irvine Victoria's all-time goalscoring record.

"147 goals, fantastic achievement, sake mate it only took me about three years to do that, how long you been playing for?

"But listen, well done. All the best to you and the boys for the rest of the season. I hope you go and win that league!

"Good luck, cheers, and well done - cause it's no' easy scoring goals, some just make it look easy."
