NORTH Ayrshire Council have confirmed which schools will be closed due to the latest round of industrial action.

This will take place on Wednesday, December 7, unless an agreement is reached before then.

Members of the Scottish Secondary Teachers Association (SSTA) and the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) are set to walk out next week due to an ongoing dispute over pay.

Now North Ayrshire Council have confimed that almost all secondary schools in the area will be closed should action go ahead.

The secondary schools affected by this are: Ardrossan Academy, Auchenharvie Academy, Garnock Community Campus, Greenwood Academy, Irvine Royal Academy, Kilwinning Academy and St Matthew’s Academy, which will be closed to pupils.

The only exceptions to this are Largs Academy, which will remain open to S5-6 pupils only to allow the scheduled prelims to take place, and Arran High School will remain fully open for all pupils.

All primary schools, early years classes and standalone early years centres will remain fully open to all children and young people as normal - bar a couple of exceptions.

Stanley Primary School will be closed to P5 and P6 only - all other classes, including early years classes, will be open as usual.

Whiting Bay Primary School over in Arran will be closed to all children.

Specific arrangements for children attending Lockhart Campus are being developed and will be communicated to parents/carers separately.

The council have also confirmed that those who would typically receive a free meal from school will be able access a packed lunch on December 7.

Collection is available from the nearest school, therefore parents and carers do not need to go to the school their child(ren) attends if this is not convenient. Collection time is between 11am - 1pm.

The council added that should there be any further changes to these arrangements, they will communicate this as quickly as possible to parents and carers
