North Ayrshire Council have announced changes to the bin schedules over the festive period this year.

Collection dates begin to change in late December through January while collection times may also vary - so residents are advised to have all bins out for collection by 7am.

On the mainland and Cumbrae, collection times will generally remain the same throughout the festive period except for on Monday December 26 and Monday January 2.

Bins due for collection on December 26 2022 will be collected on December 24 2022 while bins due for collection on January 2 2023 will be collected on December 31 2022.

On Arran domestic collection dates in December will change from Monday December 26 to Wednesday December 28, Tuesday December 27 to Thursday December 29, and from Wednesday December 28 to Friday December 30.

In January, uplifts change from Monday January 2 to Wednesday January 4, Tuesday January 3 to Thursday January 5, and Wednesday January 4 to Friday January 6.

There will also be changes to commercial waste collections with those due on December 26 and 27 to be done on the 27 only and uplifts scheduled for January 2 and 3 to be collected on the January 3 only.

The council’s Household Waste Recycling Centres will shut at 2pm on Christmas Eve, and will remain closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and December 27.

On Hogmanay the centres will close at 2pm and will remain closed on Sunday January 1, Monday January 2, and Tuesday January 3 – but will be open as usual all other days.

Special uplifts will stop on Friday December 16 and start again on Monday January 9.

On the mainland and Cumbrae, real Christmas trees in sections of 5ft or less will be collected starting Monday January 9 for the following two weeks if they are left next to the brown bin.
