December is bringing much colder temperatures to Scotland this week, with there being a small possibility it might snow in Ayrshire.
The Met Office has warned severe cold weather is set to hit the UK this week, as some places will experience overnight temperatures of -6C.
Additionally, there is a Met Office weather warning in place for snow and ice in northern Scotland on Wednesday and Thursday (December 7 and 8).
BBC News has reported that although snow is more likely in northern Scotland, the temperatures will be low enough to make it a possibility anywhere in the country.

Temperatures nationwide will reach highs of between 1C and 4C over the next couple of days.

Will it snow in Ayrshire?
There is a small possibility that it will snow in Ayrshire over the next couple of days, as temperatures are predicted to hit 0C in the early hours of the morning, according to the Met Office.

However, on both Wednesday and Thursday, the weather is set to be sunny despite the temperatures.
The Met Office states that it will be "largely dry and clear" in the area "with light winds and a widespread frost".
There will be chances of "scattered wintry showers" from Friday meaning some snow is possible towards the end of the week.
Temperatures will reach highs of 3C in Ayrshire, but it will mostly stay around 2C.
