With Christmas just around the corner, some might already be looking ahead to see when bins are being picked up by the council over the festive period.
The Christmas season is a time when bins fill up fast and with bin collection dates altered, this can sometimes lead to some confusion.
Not knowing when to put your bins out or missing a collection date can leave your bin unusable for weeks with all the accumulated rubbish from the celebrations.
However, there is no need to worry as we outline bin collection times and changes to the recycling centre opening times in North Ayrshire.
So whether you live in Irvine, Largs, or Ardrossan, here is everything you need to know ahead of the big day.
North Ayrshire bin collections this Christmas
North Ayrshire Council has said on its website that bin services will alter on certain days over the Christmas period.
Services such as libraries, waste collections, leisure centres, and art venues will all close over much of the festive period.
On the mainland and Cumbrae, normal Monday (December 26 and January 2) collection days will be moved to Saturday, December 24 and 31.
In Arran, normal collection dates and how they are changing are as follows:
- Monday 26 December - Wednesday 28 December
- Tuesday 27 December - Thursday 29 December
- Wednesday 28 December - Friday 30 December
- Monday 2 January - Wednesday 4 January
- Tuesday 3 January - Thursday 5 January
- Wednesday 4 January - Friday 6 January
Will North Ayrshire Council collect Christmas trees?
Mainland and Cumbrae teams will pick up Christmas trees (in 5ft or less sections) from beside your brown bin from January 9 over the two-week collection cycle.
