FUNDS raised from an event held for Kilwinning's ‘Wee Warrior’ Kieran Crichton have now been handed over to charity.

The Warriors Ball was held back in September, after being arranged by Kieran's mum Senga, as she looked to give back to the charities who helped her son recover from cancer.

The event was a roaring success and saw an amazing £10,551 raised in total for two fantastic charities.

The funds were split equally between Calum's Cabin and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital who both received cheques for £5,275.50 from Senga and Kieran.

Speaking back in 2020, Senga explained exactly what the two causes mean to her son - who recently celebrated his 18th birthday.

She said: “The hospital charity did a lot for Kieran. Calum’s Cabin give families a holiday to help bond with each other after long stays in hospital.

“Kieran really came alive and was so happy as he could go all around independently unlike in our own house. He was so happy there.”

Kieran was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Medulloblastoma in March 2018 when he was just 12-years-old.

The illness resulted in Kieran undergoing surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.

The Warriors Ball was orignally scheduled to take place back in 2020 - but was unable to proceed due to Covid-19 restrictions - before eventually taking place at the Riverside Lodge Hotel in Irvine on September 16.
