AN IRVINE supermarket have been granted permission to install ‘reverse recycling’ machines at their store.
Adsa supermarket on Irvine’s Rivergate applied for a certificate of lawfulness regarding the machines.
As part of the development, a 12x4m structure will be erected to the right of the stores entrance - which will contain these machines.
Envipco Optima machines will be installed inside the structure, which will allow users to return their plastic, glass and cans and be rewarded for doing so.
They can accept up to 50 containers per minutes and have a capacity of up to 1,640 aluminium cans, 1,000 plastic bottles and 190 glass bottles.
There is no timescale as to when these will be installed.
The planning application can be viewed in full via the council's online planning portal, using reference 22/00875/LUP.
