A DAY many Irvine residents have been waiting for has finally come.

Gray's Kitchen has announced they have officially opened their premises in the Rivergate Shopping Centre.

The restaurant/takeaway has opened up where Black Rooster was previously sited in the Irvine mall.

The plans have attractedd masses of attention online - with many people eagerly anticipating its arrival on the Irvine food scene.

Gray's Kitchen is operated by the owners of The Corner Shop in Kilwinning, on Byres Road, which has now expanded into the unit in Irvine.

Head chef and co-owner Jonathan Gray, who runs the business alongside his wife Natalie, has risen to popularity for theselection of food already on offer at The Corner Shop.

A social media announcement confirmed the opening of Gray's Kitchen this morning, January 17, and already hundreds have already commented about their excitement.

It read: "Good things come to those who wait...we are open for business!

"We have a smaller seating area today as we have cleared some space as we have Tosh O'Hara in putting some art on the walls!

"We look forward to seeing you all. Remember we would like as much feedback as possible to make sure everyone gets the food and service they deserve!"

The post also teased the specials for opening day, as well as a look at their full menu.

The menus include breakfast - featuring a selection of hot rolls, wraps, porridge, french toast, full breakfasts and lighter options - being offered from 8.30am until 12pm.

The lunch menu, including cold filled sandwiches, baguettes, wraps, bagels, toasties, baked potatoes, chicken tenders, mac and cheeses and a number of sides - will be offered from 10.30am and 2pm.

Freshly made coffees, served by staff with full barista training, will also be on offer throughout the day.
