North Ayrshire residents are encouraged to be part of a “unique community audio project” looking back on the past few years.
Locals aged 18 years and over can participate in ‘What’s Your Story?’ - piloted by North Ayrshire’s libraries as part of Scotland’s Year of Stories.
Through the initiative, it’s hoped that the community can come together through sharing personal stories that celebrate strength through what has been a very difficult time for many.
Project leader and the council’s Library Development Officer, William Poulter, said: “The pandemic has changed us all and our experiences, both positive and negative, will remain with us for many years’ to come.
“However, since our libraries re-opened following the restrictions being lifted, colleagues have heard so many uplifting stories from local people sharing things they experienced during the long time we had apart.
“We want to capture examples of strength, community spirit, resilience, and real lived experience from this unique time in history.
“Our audio project will involve meeting with participants to record their experiences and create what will in-effect be an audio time capsule - a look through the window of life in lockdown and how we adapted together.”
Supported by the Scottish Public Library Improvement Fund, the initiative is open to people of all experiences.
Register interest at your local library or by emailing librarysupport@north-ayrshire.gov.uk before Wednesday February 15 to be included in the project.
