KILWINNING Rangers have today (January 27) parted company with manager David Gormley.

It comes amid a severe slump in form for the club - which sees them lie within the relegation zone in the WoSFL Premier League at present.

Their previous two league matches have seen the Buffs ship 11 goals - in 6-3 and 5-2 losses to Darvel and Cumnock, respectively.

The club said that the committee had decided on the park results and performances had not been up to standard - and change was needed to secure their safety in the WoSFL's top flight.

Gormley spent less than a year at the helm at Buffs Park - having only taken charge of his first match in June's West of Scotland League Cup final defeat against Hurflord United.

He joined from Lowland League club Broomhill FC (now Open Goal Broomhill) on a two-year deal - replacing previous manager Chris Strain.

The former Talbot man will be departing alongside assistant manager Mark Campbell and coaches David Adams, Bill Reside and Gordon Kidd.

For the time being, a "leadership group" from within the current playing squad has been appointed - alongside goalkeeping coach David Wilson who is to remain at the Buffs - to manage the squad ahead of their match this weekend against Hurflord United.

This will see club captain Kevin Nicol alongside forwards Dylan Mackin and Thomas Collins assist Wilson with matchday duties.

The club said it is looking to make a swift appointment to replace Gormley - and applications are invited for the role.

A full club statement read: "The club can confirm we have parted company with manager David Gormley.

"The majority of the committee decided that the results and performances on the park were not up to standard and a change was needed to secure our safety within the WoSFL Premier Division.

"We would like to thank David for his efforts during his time with Kilwinning Rangers and wish him well for the future.

"The club will look to make a swift appointment and will update fans in due course.
