ONE "casualty" was treated for slight smoke inhalation following a fire at an Irvine home.

The person was treated at the scene by Scottish Ambulance Service staff.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three appliances were sent to the scene, on Sillars Meadow, late Friday (January 27) evening.

They say that the fire came from within a property on the street.

Crews spent over half an hour at the scene, before the area was considered safe once again.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.04pm on Friday, January 27, to reports of a fire at a property on Sillars Meadow, Irvine.

“Operations control mobilised three fire appliances to the area.

“One casualty received treatment for slight smoke inhalation by the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left the scene at 9.49pm after ensuring the area was made safe.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that the casualty did not need to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
