POLICE have launched an appeal to trace a man who has been reported missing - after not being seen for nearly two years.

Alexander Reid was last spotted in the Pollok area of Glasgow back in April of 2021.

The 43-year-old, is known to live between Irvine and Stevenston in Ayrshire, and the south side of Glasgow.

Also known as Alec or Jimmy, police say it is not unsual for his family to go long periods of time with no contact.

Chief Inspector Derrick Johnston added: “However, he normally makes contact with his family on occasions such as birthdays and Christmas.

“His family have become concerned following no contact over a longer than usual period of time.”

Alexander is described as white, around five feet and four inches tall and of a slim build with shaved red/auburn hair.

Police are now urging anyone with information about Alexander’s whereabouts since April 2021 to get in touch.

Chief Inspector Johnston continued: “Even if what you know seems trivial or insignificant, please get in touch as every piece of information could help us find out where Alexander may be and provide his family with some answers.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3011 of Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
