AN IRVINE fitness legend has set his sights on raising an astounding one million pounds for charity.

Scott Brown, of SBF Next Level Gym and Bootcamp, announced his intentions on social media earlier this week.

He is no stranger to fundraising himself - having raised £125,000 to this point for various charities and local causes - through his fitness platform.

His passion for this began when Scott raised over £2,000 for his friend Gary Kelso's son Kieran 12 years ago - to allow him to get new lightweight limbs to play football after sufffering from meningitis.

In over a decade since, he's done more than his fair share for charity - but Scott is determined to do more.

He said: "I have tossed and turned with a crazy idea over the last few months in my own head about a lifetime ambition of raising one million pounds for small to medium sized charities or others who need it, with appeals for help within their own community.

"I've now decided why not go for it and even if I never reach my ambition I will have a great time trying with the amount of people it will help."

And while his previous efforts have seen him take on numerous solo challenges, he says now he "can't do it by myself".

Speaking to the Times, Scott said: “I just feel with more work in it, it can be done. I just have a good feeling about it.

“I’m going to get the right people involved in it – they don’t need superpowers – they just need to have the same mindset as myself.

“It’s going to be lots of wee events and lots of chances for people to get involved.

“Thousands of people are going to benefit from it.”

He continued: “It takes a lot of support – and the more people get behind it the more successful this will become.

“This is not me on my own, it will take a lot of people to get behind it.

“If everyone comes together, and I can try and support that, we can do this.

“They can support raising one million pounds for charity and they can have input.”

While £1million may seem far away now - Scott will be counting the £125,000 he has already raised towards the ambitious total.

And he told the Times, to keep everyone on board, he wants to only donate a majority of the money raised once the full total has been achieved.

Scott aims to have seven charities all receiving £100,000 each once the full total is raised – and the other money "pot" used for individual initiatives which may come to light along the way.

Despite this goal appearing some way off, he said: “It’s quite exciting for me. I believe in everything that I do.

“It can bring our community together and change a lot of lives.

“The community is falling apart in some ways but I want to bring it together in another sense.

“Even if people are not in a position to give themselves, they can take part in another way.”

Scott did acknowledge is that this won't be an overnight project - it is something which could take five to ten years.

Though he says the end result could be "magical" and he wants everyone to get on board.

He has yet to set up an official fundraising page - though anyone interested is encouraged to get in touch.
