POLICE are trying to trace two men after an alleged assault in the Rivergate Shopping Centre.

It comes after a man was found injured inside the Irvine mall yesterday evening (February 6) - and had to be take to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Officers have been checking CCTV footage from in and around the area and enquiries carried out so far have established the man was assaulted by two men.

Investigators have now released descriptions of the two suspects they wish to trace.

The first is white and around 20-years-old. He was wearing a black Lyle and Scott jacket, white shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

The second suspect is white, around 30-years-old and was dressed in a black suit, white shirt, black tie and black shoes.

Detective Constable Lee Duncan said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and it’s important we trace the two men responsible.

"I would appeal to any shoppers who were in the area at the time to contact us with any information they may have.”
