NICOLA Sturgeon was left "utterly mortified" during her appearance on Loose Women this afternoon.

As the First Minister was introduced, a clip of her resignation speech was played on a screen.

When Sturgeon arrived to take her seat, she revealed: “I’m mortified by the way. I’m utterly mortified. I was watching that clip from my resignation speech off-stage. I’m wearing the same jacket today. Have I got time to go change?”

She added: “My mother will give me some talking to.”

In the first and exclusive interview since Sturgeon announced her resignation, she was asked if it’s sunk in yet.

She revealed this week is a week of ‘final acts’, before saying “Has it sunk in? Probably not. It’s a big, big change.

“I think it will take a while for me to adapt to a very different way of living. There’s been a mix of emotions in the last few weeks, but the thing that I can say with no hesitation is I’ve never doubted I’ve taken the right decision.”

During her appearance on the show, Sturgeon discussed a range of topics from the things she was most proud of as First Minister and the recent row over SNP membership.

She was also asked if she would take a similar route to former health secretary Matt Hancock, who was fiercely criticised for his decision to appear on I’m A Celebrity.

Sturgeon said she would absolutely not follow suit and joked that she wanted to be held to account on that.

She added that Strictly Come Dancing was also out of the question and that she couldn’t cook so that meant we won’t be seeing the outgoing SNP leader on The Great British Bake Off anytime soon either.

Before signing off though, she joked that she would maybe “consider” being part of Loose Women.
