North Ayrshire Council are holding a careers and further education event for young people and their families next week.

The evening will be hosted by the council’s employability service ‘Your Next Move, North Ayrshire’ at Ayrshire College’s Kilwinning campus on Tuesday March 28 between 6pm and 8pm.

Over 40 employer stalls will be there to give career advice and representatives from Ayrshire College will be there to give info on departments, student funding and student services.

Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for economy and climate change, said: “Thank you to Ayrshire College for hosting the upcoming ‘Your Next Move’ careers event.

“The sign-up response we have had so far from local businesses has been superb and we are looking forward to hosting this worthwhile information event.

“I would encourage anyone interested to come along and access the wealth of information and career opportunities available.”

Employers in at the event include science and technology company Merck, Ayrshire Construction Training Group, Booth Welsh Integrated Engineering Services and Women’s Aid.

Potential university students can also hear advice from representatives from the University of the West of Scotland.

There is also information on modern apprenticeships which are carried out via a collaboration between workplaces and Ayrshire College.

It’s expected that the event will be well attended as 320 young people have already registered their interest.

Entry to the ‘Your Next Move, North Ayrshire’ information evening is free but booking is required: www.tinyurl.com/4drx4sf3.
