VOLUNTEERS from Irvine's Coastwatch team have installed a new life-saving device at the harbourside.
The reach and rescue pole is a telescopic rescue system which can be used to recover people from the water.
It will be used at the harbourside, Beach Park area and the river.
Members of the public who spot someone in trouble in the water can dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard, who will then provide a code to access the pole.
Coastwatch were able to install the device for the upcoming busy summer season thanks to financial contributions from North Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
The group would like to thank both organisations for their contributions as well as the Belfast Coastguard Rescue Coordination Centre.
