AN ONLINE fund-raising campaign has been launched for a memorial to a Kilwinning man whose body was discovered last week.
A family friend of Andrew Linton has launched the effort in the hope of securing enough donations to erect a memorial bench to remember the 43-year-old.
Andrew's body was discoved in the town's Eglinton Park on the morning of Sunday, March 26 - 33 days after he was last sesn leaving his home in Corsehill.
The organiser of the fund-raiser says that although Andrew's family did not want help with funeral costs, they still wanted to do something to help.
A statement on the fund-raising page says "I suggested a wee memorial bench where family and friends could go, where Andrew was found. They have agreed it would be a nice thing to do.
"This is a sad, emotional time for all who knew Andrew, and would be nice if we could organise this for them."
Organisers have already hit their initial fundraising target of £1,000, though their gofundme page remains open for donations.
Anyone wishing to contribute towards this can do so by visiting gofundme.com/f/memorial-bench-for-andrew-linton.
