GENEROUS Kilwinning man Michael Kirkum has now donated an incredible 10,000 Easter eggs to sick kids - in just 12 years.

As revealed last week, Michael's latest donation to the sick kids ward at Crosshouse Hospital was warmly received by staff and patients alike.

And he revealed today: "We've just confirmed it means a total of 10,234 Easter eggs have been donated to Crosshouse, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and residents.

"I would like to thank everyone who has donated to this great cause over the years."

Crosshouse hospital play specialist Michelle Dodds said last week: “Having to stay in hospital is never easy, but it can be especially hard for children over the holidays.

"For many years now, Michael and the local businesses he approaches have helped bring joy to patients staying with us over Easter. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity.”

William McGowan, head of partnerships and events with the Crosshouse Children’s Fund, added: “We are incredibly grateful to Michael once again for his amazing efforts and generosity in gathering these treats for the children in hospital over Easter.”

Michael said last week: “I’m so humbled by the support. It’s so amazing. You just couldn’t predict that.

"Certainly with the living crisis going on it’s just amazing.

“I think because of the crisis everyone wants to dig deep and help out.”

A committed community fund-raiser of 30 years, Michael is also busy planning a ‘Cranberry Jam’ concert in the Cranberry Moss Community Centre for Saturday, April 15.

Michael’s son, Michael junior, stepped in to help his dad collect donations this year due to his busy schedule.

Michael junior said: "I would like to thank Energyze personal training who donated 185 eggs from themselves and clients, Gallagher Insurance, Billy's Barbers, On Fire For Driving, Mane Barbers, Lynn Stevenston and Darren Clark to name a few.

"Also, thanks for all donations and support without this would not be possible."
