GUIDES and Rangers from North Ayrshire enjoyed a fantastic trip to Dublin over the Easter weekend.

They were among more than 400 Girlguiding Scotland members who enjoyed an action packed scavanger hunt - and they even picked up a first prize.

On Saturday, with beautiful weather onside, the girls explored the city – for some it was the first trip abroad post-pandemic and for others it was the first time abroad eve.

Our girls participated in a Goosechase game, collecting points for their groups by visiting key landmarks or points of interest across Dublin.

In total, there were 31 challenges to complete.

This included a selfie aboard a Luas Tram, a campfire song beside the statue of Molly Malone, and answering facts about the Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Ayrshire North Guides and Rangers won a prize with the most points at the end, awarded during the closing ceremony and silent disco in St. Stephen’s Green.

Girlguiding Scotland organised a day of activities for the Saturday, but many groups decided to turn it into a whole weekend of fun for their girls and make the most of the long bank holiday, with units visiting the Irish Emigration Museum, sightseeing aboard the Big Bus and singing alongside a local busker in the streets!

“Meeting the other guide leaders from all around Scotland was fabulous and meeting the Irish girls in particular. They were so helpful and just so nice”, said Renfrewshire county-secretary Maureen Buchanan.

"Girlguiding Scotland is part of a truly global movement to inspire girls and offer them a huge range of international adventures.

"We want to give girls a chance to explore new places, immerse themselves in new histories and environments, and meet other Girlguiding members from around the world.

"We are always excited to expand our growing community of girls across Scotland.

"If you are interested in participating in the next international scavenger hunt, then find out where your nearest Girlguiding Scotland unit is and join in."
