A MAN has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car on a dual carriageway near Irvine.

Police are now appealing for information from other drivers who were in the area at the time.

Hospital staff have described the 45-year-old man's condition as "stable" following the incident.

Police say the incident happened on the A71 at around 10.35pm on Wednesday, April 19, between the Warrix intercharge and Corsehill Mount roundabouts.

The male was struck by a grey Toyota Auris.

Police and ambulance attended crews attended shortly after the incident.

The man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart from Police Scotland's Irvine road policing unit said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist us, to make contact.

"I am also keen to obtain any dashcam from motorists driving on the road around the time of the crash.

“Anyone with information should contact us through 101 quoting reference number 4098 of April 19.”
