Irvine Times: Ready for Singing in the Rain?

YOUNG stars at the Irvine based Janice Marshall School of Dance were preparing for their big show, Chill Out and Dance.

The show was set to be held in the Magnum Theatre from June 25-29.

And as the above picture proved, Singing In The Rain was definitely one of their dance routines for the big event.

Irvine Times: SNP leader John Swinney visited Irvine on the campaign trail

SNP leader John Swinney swung into Irvine as the election campaign reached fever pitch.

He stopped by to lend a hand to Cunninghame South candidate Mike Russell as he curried last minute favour with the Irvine voters.

And Mr Russell was pleased his boss had taken the time out to stop by during his whistle-stop tour of Scotland.

He said: "I was delighted John came to Irvine for the second time in six months and this will drive the campaign forward in the last few days and adds to what has already been a great campaign locally."

He did look as if he was getting an earful from this Irvine woman as he hit the campaign trail, however.

Irvine Times: Irvine Rugby Club in action at Murrayfield

IRVINE Rugby Club made it to the BT Bowl Final at Murrayfield.

They lost 23-13 to Annan but did themselves proud, showing real fight throughout.

“I am proud of the team and the way we played,” declared Irvine coach Allan Wilson.

“We perhaps didn’t come away with the points we should have had after the pressure in the first 20 minutes, but Annan defended well and then hit us hard in the first 10 minutes of the second half which is when we lost it.

"But it was a good game and we can have no complaints.

“It was disappointing to get so far and not get the result, but the players, all the officials, the supporters and anyone involved with the side will have great memories of the day - and when the buses got back to Marress and the party started, you would think we had won!”

Skipper Kevin Pattie expressed his pride in the side who did their club and supporters proud.

Irvine Times: The donation to Bourtreehill Age Concern

Delighted workers at Bourtreehill's Age Concern drop-in centre picked up a cash boost from Irvine Incorporated Trades.

The organisation handed over a cheque for £250 to the ladies from the cash-strapped centre. And the figure was made up to a nice round £300 with a £50 cheque from Irvine Hammermen on the same day.

The drop-in ladies pictured with IIT representatives are (from left) Sandra Manousou, Betty Weir and Jean Reader.
