A POPULAR Ayrshire chef is on the move again after confirming he has left his current place of work.

Since the beginning of the year, Christopher Dibbon - or 'Big Dibby' as he is better known - has been operating out of King Kone at Station Plaza in Kilwinning.

The Kilwinning move came after he ended a successful stint working in South Ayrshire at both The Buf in Prestwick and Skinny Malinkies in Ayr.

Prior to this, the chef, who has more than 20 years' experience, gained popularity for the extravagant dishes created at his own successful food van in Hurlford - Big Dibby's Kitchen.

But last weekend, Big Dibby confirmed that he would no longer be working in the kitchen at King Kone.

Christopher announced the news in a social media statement on Friday.

He said: "Big Dibby's will unfortunately no longer be based in King Kone.

"King Kone will still be open, but it will not be my food that’s being served.

"King Kone is still running my menu just now, with one of the chefs that trained underneath me - I am not there though."

And while the news will come as a disappointment to North Ayrshire foodies, the chef has told his followers to "keep your eyes peeled folks for some exciting news".

Judging from his interactions on social media, it seems that Big Dibby is once again looking to venture out on his own.

He told one follower "I was wanting a place of my own" and that his inability to do so at King Kone was part of his reason for leaving.

Many are hoping this could mean a return of his famous food van - though there's been plenty of debate over which area of Ayrshire he should be looking to move to.

Nothing has been confirmed yet - though we are sure there will be plenty of interest in his next venture.
