Irvine Times: Irvine No 1 Celtic Supporters Club

And finally, Celtic-daft fans in Irvine bought out an entire plane to Seville so they could see their heroes in action in the UEFA Cup Final.

Members of the Irvine Celtic Supporters Club bought nearly 200 seats on a flight to Malaga so the Hoops-daft punters could experience the thrill of seeing Celtic in the glamour final.

The club splashed out £72,000 to buy seats after a failed attempt to charter their own plane to the south of Spain.

Hours after they revealed the deal - which includes a two-night stay in Torremolinos - fans from all over Scotland phoned club secretary Kenny McLeary to try to book a seat.

Kenny, 42, said: "It will be a fantastic trip and £400 is nothing when it’s an occasion like this."
