THE bells of Irvine Old Parish Church rang out at the weekend to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on May 6.

And on the following day, a Thanksgiving Service was held in the church to mark the big occasion.

The congregation were joined by invited guests, including the Depute Lord Lieutenant and councillors and officials from North Ayrshire Council, as well as representatives from all the town's civic organisations, the local Orange Lodges, the Masonic Lodges and the two local golf clubs.

The congregation was delighted that the invitations were accepted.

The music of the organ was enhanced by the accompaniment of 15 members of Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band.

Following the church service, many attending worship accepted the invitation to join members at the Big Coronation Lunch in the church hall.

This sparked much conversation, friendship and laughter - even the children seemed to enjoy the day.

A spokesperson said: "Irvine Old Parish would like to pass on their thanks to all who participated in any way in making the celebration such a success."
