THE head teacher of Irvine's Glebe Primary has been hailed for her "outstanding leadership" by school inspectors.

The school received a glowing report after a recent visit by the Education Scotland team.

And head teacher Mrs Sanderson was singled out for high praise in the following report.

It stated: "The outstanding leadership of the head teacher is a driving force for improvement across the school community.

"She shows strong, capable and caring leadership, steering the school through the challenges of the pandemic, whilst implementing significant change.

"She has motivated, energised and empowered all staff skilfully so that they initiate research-informed improvements confidently."

The school received an 'Excellent' ranking for ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion, plus 'Very Good' rankings for leadership of change, learning teaching and assessment and raising attainment and achievement.

The report praised the "significant impact of approaches to nurture, promoting positive relationships and improving wellbeing. This results in a highly supportive and inclusive learning environment where children thrive".

It also hailed the "very strong" approaches of all staff to meeting the needs of children who face barriers to their learning, adding: "Led very effectively by the depute head teacher, all staff are highly responsive to the needs and changing circumstances of children and their families.

"The commitment and dedication of all staff in ensuring all children benefit from a broad range of quality learning experiences. This results in very strong attainment and high achievement for children.

The report concluded: "We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.

"North Ayrshire Council will inform parents/carers about the school’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of its schools."

Head teacher Mrs Sanderson said: “This is a fantastic report and we are all delighted to have received such positive feedback from Education Scotland.

“We are very much a team and I have to say a huge thanks to all the teachers and support staff for the work they do every day. They are an amazing group of staff who care deeply about the young people and giving them the best experience possible.

“The pupils are an absolute credit to the school, themselves and their families and it is a privilege to be their head teacher.

“We won’t rest on our laurels. Like all inspections, they pick up things we can do better and we will strive to get even better over the coming weeks and months.”

Councillor Shaun Macaulay, Cabinet Member for Education, said: “This is an absolutely outstanding report and the head teacher and all the staff deserve an enormous amount of credit. They are doing a brilliant job.

“A huge well done to all the young people who are making the most of the learning environment and thriving. It’s great to see and I’m sure Glebe Primary will continue to go from strength to strength."
