TOM LOY was crowned the winner of the prestigious Strokeplay Tournament at Irvine Golf Club on Sunday - by the tightest of margins.
Played from the medal tees, the competitors play two rounds of scratch golf, the winner being decided on the lowest gross score.
This year the sun shone and the course, in magnificent condition, proved a true test of top-quality golf.
After round one, George Robertson lead with a one-over-par 72, closely followed by Alan Barbour, Tom Loy and Jack Thomas on 74 and a further three players back on 75.
The second round would be a tight affair. Mark Anderson carded an excellent 72 to lead in the club house before Tom Loy rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt on the last to return the same score.
However, with Tom one shot better off than Mark in the first round, he claimed the trophy by the smallest of margins.
Tom was presented with the trophy by club captain Stuart McInnes.
