A KILWINNING woman has been charged with embezzling a six-figure sum from an energy company which went bust last year.
According to police, the 45-year-old was employed as a finance assistant at energy supplier Together Energy Retail before it ceased trading.
Cops claim that between January 2022 and March 2022, the unnamed female reportedly embezzled a six-figure sum to her bank account.
She has now been charged with embezzlement and proceeds of crime offences.
Together Energy, which was based in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, supplied energy to around 176,000 domestic customers and one non-domestic customer.
It is understood the supplier had about 300 staff before announcing it was to stop trading last year due to the sustained increase in wholesale prices.
The woman is now the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.
