A miracle baby who was dumped on an Irvine doorstep less than 24 hours after being born was making a remarkable recovery in July 2003.

Named Sarah, the baby was left fighting for her life after being found in the early hours of Saturday, June 21. She was put on a life support machine at Yorkhill Sick Kids Hospital.

But medical staff were delighted with her progress and moved her back down to the neo-natal clinic at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine.

Police were still trying to trace the baby’s mother, as they were concerned for her safety.
