IT is nearly time for Irvine's newest bar to open to the public.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 30, will see the official launch of The Northern Way on High Street.

The former R&A Sports Bar shut up shop earlier this month following a takeover by UK-wide pub chain Amber Taverns.

As part of the takeover, which the Times revealed back in April, the bar closed during this time to allow for a £500,000 refurbishment of the venue - which is re-opening under the new The Northern Way name.

And ahead of the relaunch tomorrow, with the bar opening to the public once again, the Times was given a look around as the final touches were put on the venue.

The Times was previously told by Amber Taverns that the former sports bar would be transformed into a "contemporary community pub".
